Weddings

Congratulations!  It is likely that, reading this, you have recently become engaged or know someone who has, and you are wanting some information about getting married at St Nicholas.   We are delighted that you are considering a Church wedding.  Many couples have found that their wedding at St Nicholas Church has been a wonderful and moving experience.  There is no other building so historic or beautiful and we are fortunate in having one of the finest churches in Norfolk.  We hope that you are also aware of the added dimension that being married in Church brings, for here is a religious ceremony highlighting God's blessing upon you and the sacredness of your promises.

The first step is to get in touch either by email to vicar@stnicholasnw.plus.com or by phoning 01692/406380.  Then we can start to discuss the process and, if the circumstances are straightforward, the date.  Once the date and time is in the diary we do not need to meet formally again until four months before the wedding.  Then there is paperwork to be completed (the Banns form), the service to be explained and options chosen and, most importantly, a time of getting to know you both better and talking about your future life together as husband and wife.

There is lots you can do beteen the initial contact and the four months before the wedding.  We would be delighted if you would come to church when you can.  This helps you get used to church if you haven't been to church for some time and it helps you both to understadn the wedding service and to feel "at home" there.  We think you will enjoy coming and make lots of new friends.  Each main morning service (which starts at 10am) finishes with coffee when we can meet one another informally.

You do not need to wait until our formal meeting before starting to plan your wedding.  there is now an excellent Church of England website dedicated to weddings.  You can find there the service and suggestions for hymns and readings, complete with audio files and also including entry and exit music.  As well as all the practical section the website will probably also answer any general questions you may have about being married in Church.  Of course, we are also always available to advise and answer questions.  We know just what an important day in your life this is and want to make it one you will treasure for ever.
