The Travellers Youth Group (TTYG)

The Travellers Youth Group, or TTYG is St Nicholas' newest youth group aimed specifically at young people of a secondary school age (11-16).  Whether you are a regular church-goer or have never been before, this group has something to offer.  Male or female you will be made welcome at meetings, usually held once a month.

The main aim of the group is to visit interesting and exciting places that are not necessarily important to Christians.  Before the visits, meetings take place to prepare the itinerary and after the trip the group gets together again to discuss various experiences.  At least one trip is made each term.

The group has already visited Cambridge where they were given a tour of King's College and had a go at punting on the river Cam.  They have also been to London where they were given a tour of St Paul's Cathedral, had a ride on the Thames ferry and had an evening meal at McDonald's.  More recently some of the group had a great time as part of the Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage.  Now soon they are off to London again.  There is no stopping them!

Members of the group have said:

  • "I like this group because of its friendliness"
  •  "I like TTYG because it's fun & educational.  We get to go to places we wouldn't normally go to"
  •  "I really enjoy the trips we go on and am looking forward to the next one"
  •  "Its fun being in The Travellers, we go to various places exploring anything from churches to rivers!"
  •  "This group gives us the opportunity to mix with different types of people"

The places to visit and the itinerary are purely down to the young people; so you really do what you want.

The best thing though, everything is FREE!
