St Nicholas Electoral Roll

The Church Electoral Roll (ER) for St Nicholas, North Walsham is operated in accordance with (iaw) the Church Representation Rules. The current ER for St Nicholas, renewed in 2007, has been revised iaw the appropriate regulations and is now in the fifth year of its ‘planned’ 6-year lifespan, before the roll has to be completely renewed again, now in March 2013. In 2013 all the names on the ER will be removed and ER applications are required to be completed by all those eligible personnel requiring to be included on the next ER. The conditions for entry on the church electoral roll of a parish and how to apply for entry are laid down by the Church Representation Rules (CRR r.1-3). The basic conditions are that the person concerned:- a. must be a baptised lay person aged 16 or over; b. must apply for entry on the roll; and c. must declare him- or herself to be a member of the Church of England (or a Church in communion with it) who is resident in the parish or has habitually attended public worship in the parish for six months prior to enrolment. A member in good standing of another Church which subscribes to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity who is also prepared to declare him- or herself to be a member of the Church of England, and who has habitually attended public worship in the parish for the six month period, is also entitled to apply for enrolment and be entered on the roll. Only those people, registered on the renewed / revised ER, are eligible to participate in the non-churchwarden related voting at our Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM).
